JUNIOR PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
An opportunity for keen young photographers to demonstrate their creativity and skill.
Open to young people in Richmond Borough up to the age of 16.
Photos will be displayed in the Art Marquee at Ham Fair.
We’re looking for photos that are interesting and artistic, which highlight creative skills in choosing and composing pictures, as well as technical skills in using camera settings.
RULES
Young people, up to 16 years old, can submit up to 2 photographs that they have taken in the last 12 months. There is no theme to follow.
Photographs can be in colour or black and white and up to A4 in size (standard photo sizes 10×8 or 12×8 inches are ideal) and must be printed and mounted on thin card.
On the back of the photograph write:
Your full name
Year Group
School, and
Contact telephone number.
You may also write your name and year group on the front (but not your telephone number) if you want visitors to the exhibition to know that the photograph is by you.
The photograph(s) must be entirely your own work and not lifted from any source. Winning entries will be checked for originality.
Photos will be grouped according to age and judged by the members of Kingston Camera Club. Judges will take into account the age of the photographer and award Gold and Silver Stars.
Two photographs will be judged best overall in two age categories, Junior (11 years and under) and Senior (12 years and older), The Senior winner’s photo will be printed on the front cover of the Ham & Petersham Community Magazine. Both winners will have their photograph professionally framed after the Fair.
Winners certificates and prizes will be awarded on Fair day at 3pm.
SUBMITTING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS
Local schools (The German School, Grey Court, The Kingston Academy, The Russell, St Richards, Meadlands) will be collecting entries. You can either submit your entry to your school’s art teacher or reception desk by date to be advised June 2024
or
Deliver your photographs directly to Chris Kenward, 24 Tudor Drive, Kingston KT2 5PZ no later date to be advised June 2024.
GETTING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS RETURNED
Photographs which are submitted through schools will be returned to schools the week following the Fair. Entries submitted to Mr Kenward can be collected from the Art Marquee at Ham Fair from 4pm.
We are unable to return entries by post and any entries that are not collected will be recycled.
