This information will be updated once the details for 2021 are confirmed
The Ham Fair competition for Young Photographers is an opportunity for local young people to display their talent and to win an exciting prize.
The photographs selected by the judges will be displayed in the Craft Marquee at the Fair. The gallery will be enjoyed by the children, their families and friends, and also the community as a whole.
We are looking for photos that are interesting and artistic. We want photographers to demonstrate their creative skills in choosing and composing pictures as well as their technical skills in using a camera.
Young people, up to 16 years old, can submit up to 3 photographs that they have taken in 2020. These could be of anything that makes an interesting picture, use your imagination!
Photographs can be in colour or black and white. They can be up to A4 in size (standard photo sizes 10×8 or 12×8 inches are ideal) and must be printed so that they can be easily displayed on a picture board.
Write your name, age and contact telephone number on the back of the photograph. You may also write your name on the front (but not your telephone number) if you wish so that visitors to the gallery know that the photograph is by you.
Photos will be judged by local professional photographer Paul Mowatt. Judging will take in to account the age of each photographer. Gold and Silver Awards will be given to the photographs that most impress the judge.
One photograph will be awarded the first prize of a photoshoot voucher for a 90 minute home/location/studio shoot (normally £345) kindly donated by Imagethirst. The photograph will also appear on the front cover of an issue of the Ham & Petersham Community Magazine.
Prizes will be presented in the Craft Marquee at the Fair at 3pm.
Submitting your photographs
Post, or deliver, your photographs in an envelope addressed to Matthew Rees, 1 Northweald Lane, Kingston upon Thames KT2 5GL.
Photographs must be received for judging by Monday 8 June.
